October 11, 2022

As more people head indoors with the arrival of the fall and winter seasons, common respiratory viruses like influenza in addition to COVID-19 are expected to increase.

To provide a convenient option for individuals and families looking to have their symptoms assessed by a health care provider, the North York Cough, Cold and COVID Assessment Centre is here for you!

The centre provides timely access to quality care by providing assessments for cold-like symptoms such as earaches, sore throats, and coughs. The centre can also offer COVID-19 PCR tests for those who are eligible according to current provincial guidelines.

“By assessing a range of common respiratory illnesses, the North York Cough, Cold and COVID Assessment Centre provides another helpful option for people who need to see a health care provider,” says Milijana Buzanin, Clinical Team Manager for the Assessment Centre. “Individuals and families can book an appointment for the same or next day if they are experiencing moderate cold symptoms and are concerned.”

Staffed by NYGH physicians and nurses, the centre can also provide prescriptions if necessary.

Patients with severe symptoms such as chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, altered state of consciousness, and confusion should dial 9-1-1 or go to their nearest Emergency Department.

The centre is open Monday-Friday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Patients must book an appointment online or by calling and leaving a message at 416-635-2509 (daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Appointments can be booked for the same or next day.

The Cough, Cold and COVID Assessment Centre is located at NYGH’s Finch) site at 555 Finch Ave. W. (West entrance).
