Announcing North York General’s New Vice President, Quality, Post- Acute Care & Community Integration

North York General is delighted to announce that Jennifer Dockery will be joining NYGH as its inaugural Vice President, Quality, Post-Acute Care & Community Integration, starting on August 19, 2024.

North York General is at a time of transformational change. Increasingly in the years ahead, NYGH will build on its foundation of excellence in patient care, and continue to work with our partners to create an accessible and connected health system for all people.

In this new role, Jennifer will provide strategic leadership for NYGH’s community health and integrated care portfolio, with a focus on creating a new standard for comprehensive and equitable seniors’ care.  This includes leading clinical and operational planning for our new long-term care (LTC) development and seniors’ health hub, ambulatory programs, the Reactivation Care Centre, and collaborative models for home, community and primary care, as a proud member of the North York Toronto Health Partners. This new portfolio will also include oversight of Quality, Risk and Ethics.

An RN by training, Jennifer has over 25 years of diverse leadership and operational experience in the health sector spanning Ambulatory, Primary and Community Care, Women’s Health, and Long-Term Care. In her most recent role as the General Manager for Seniors Services and Long-Term Care with the City of Toronto, she was responsible for service planning and strategic integration of City services for seniors, including health care for vulnerable individuals living in the community and operating 10 LTC homes.

Her career has been dedicated to supporting marginalized groups and reducing health disparities. This included previous roles as Vice President of Operations and Chief Nursing Executive for a culturally appropriate multi-site LTC organization, as Director of Primary Care, Health Equity & Community Engagement at Women’s College Hospital, and as Director, Women’s & Children’s Services with the Inner City Health Program at St. Michael’s Hospital.

An accomplished leader with a record of advancing innovative models of care, Jennifer was responsible for the implementation of Canada’s first hospital-based refugee clinic, and the first Urban Indigenous Midwifery-led birthing centre in Ontario.

Jennifer received the 2022 Advantage Ontario Leadership Award and the Canadian College of Health Leaders GTA chapter Healthcare Leadership Award in recognition of her contributions to community health.
