Hospital Performance: Accreditation Canada Summary Report

In 2016, North York General Hospital was Accredited with Exemplary Standing, the highest designation given by Accreditation Canada. Every two to four years, hospitals, long-term care facilities and other health organizations participate in a voluntary accreditation process to assess performance against national standards of health care excellence.

Over four days in March 2016, five surveyors from Accreditation Canada used over 2,500 criteria to evaluate the hospital. North York General met 99.8% of the requirements which include all patient care programs and administrative functions like strategic and operational planning, and community engagement.
