With our fast moving health care system and with all the great things that are going on in our organization I am going to try to send more frequent updates. These will be a bit more casual in tone and structure. I am also happy to receive ideas for what you would like to hear about. As always, I can be reached at email@example.com
In health care news:
Last week a report was released by the Premier's Council on Improving Healthcare and Ending Hallway Medicine. It was meant to provide an overview of the state of our health care system with a future report planned in the spring with specific recommendations. In order to address issues such as capacity and resource pressures, the report emphasized three main areas for improvement:
On a related note, there has been a lot of discussion in the media about potential changes to the health care system including the creation of a "super agency." While it's difficult to speculate on changes that will actually be made, it is likely we will see some significant structural changes to different organizations like the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs). We will continue to work collaboratively with current and future organizations to improve care.
Nice shout out
Last weekend I had a chance to spend the day with the leadership team of another large community hospital. Throughout the day I received lovely comments complimenting NYGH on our excellence in innovative care models, IT, wait times and our overall "can do" culture. One of the physician leaders told me he lives near our hospital and he and his family always have great care here.
It is a great credit to our organization and everyone here that we have such a great reputation among our peers.
Finally, I want to close by wishing all those who celebrated the Chinese New Year this week a very good Year of the Pig. Gong hei fat choy.
