NYGH holds international emergency medicine conference

Members of the North York General Hospital (NYGH) Emergency Services Program recently organized Emergency Medicine Update Europe, an international conference in Emergency Medicine held this October in St.-Remy-de-Provence, France. Eighty-five participants from Canada, the United States and Australia participated in the 4th biannual event.

“The conference builds on our expertise from organizing Emergency Medicine Update here in Toronto, Canada's largest annual Emergency Medicine event,” says Dr. Rick Penciner, Course Director and Director of Medical Education at NYGH. “We employ novel teaching methods to really enhance the interactivity of the participants and are not afraid to challenge traditional continuing education paradigms.”

North York General Hospital speakers included:

  • Dr. Arun Sayal - Good X-rays, Bad Outcomes - Cautionary ED Ortho Cases
  • Dr. Tim Rutledge - Healthcare Trends that Impact Emergency Medicine
  • Dr. Rick Penciner – Teaching in the Emergency Department
