Dr. Bonnie Madonik appointed National Addiction Medicine Advisor, Canadian Armed Forces

Dr. Bonnie Madonik, Medical Director of the Addiction Program at North York General Hospital, was appointed National Addiction Medicine Advisor to the Canadian Armed Forces effective December 2016.

“I will work with a team to help identify areas where development of policies, practices and systems are reviewed and revised,” says Dr. Madonik. “More specifically, one of the ‘pathways to care' includes treatment for individuals by incorporating a patient-centred approach, with collaboration between primary care, mental health, and case management.”

The role also includes comprehensive training and education of the multidisciplinary team and officers in best practice guidelines using evidence-based strategies. “I consider it to be a great privilege to be able to be a part of this effort,” says Dr. Madonik.
