In July 2010, the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 (Act) came into effect upon finalization of related regulations. It governs the process for placing people in long-term care (LTC) homes, and authorizes the province’s 14 Community Care Access Centres (CCACs) to manage this process. Accordingly, the CCACs determine eligibility for admission, prioritize eligible individuals on LTC homes’ wait lists and arrange placement when a bed becomes available.
In accordance with the Auditor General's Report, the Central CCAC has posted the waiting lists for long-term care within the Central LHIN. The wait list can be found on the Central CCAC website
or on the Central CCAC Healthline.ca on the Long-Term CareHomes page.
All CCACs across the province were required to post this information on a public website by July 1, 2013.
