Substance Use Support Group

Educational/Support Group for Family Members of Youth and Young Adults Affected by Substance Use Issues
 
This eight-week educational/ support group is offered by the Transitional Aged Youth Substance Use Program (16-24 years of age), part of North York General Hospital's Mental Health Program.

Topics include:
  • Learning about the addiction process and how substance use affects the whole family
  • Understanding adolescent and family development and effective parenting strategies, including limit-setting, communication and coping skills
  • Recognizing factors that may be associated with adolescent/young adult substance use (e.g. underlying mental health issues)
  • Becoming aware of the community resources available

Location: Branson Ambulatory Care Centre, North York General Hospital, 555 Finch St. West.
