Procurement Directive

Ontario’s Broader Public Sector Accountability Act, 2010 (BPSAA) sets new rules and accountabilities for hospitals, Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) and other public sector organizations.

As part of the BPSAA, all hospitals in Ontario, including North York General Hospital (NYGH), were required to implement new Expense and Procurement Directives by April 1, 2011.

The new Procurement Directive strengthens our previous procurement guidelines and procedures by clarifying that:

  • Any procurement of consultants must follow the procedures of an open and competitive process regardless of the contract dollar value.

The CEO must approve any sole or single sourcing of consultants.
